The first line of defense in Ayurvedic medicine, Triphala is a natural herbal laxative, which cleanses and tones the gastrointestinal tract. Made from the three most important rejuvenative fruits - Amalaki, Haritaki and Bhibitaki - in Ayurveda for balancing the five elements.
Triphala has been used for centuries to help almost all health problems and aid in correcting both diarrhea and constipation. It helps to detoxify the body, promoting internal cleansing and improving digestion and circulation. The recommended dose is one teaspoon powder in juice for mild cleansing. It should be allowed to sit for at least two hours. Triphala has a strong taste and some people find it easier to take with a little sweetener such as maple or agave syrup along with the juice.
